Problem Statement

Criteria Meet Specification

The student should write an effective problem statement.

The problem statement should be:

  • Specific
  • Measurable
  • Actionable

The student follows an issue-based framework to address the problem statement

The ghost deck is structured logically and represents a structured and exhaustive thought process.

Ghost Deck

Criteria Meet Specification

The student clearly defines his or her analyses required to address the problem statement.

The analyses defined by the student are hypothesis driven and issue driven. The hypothesis if analyzed should address the problem statement.

The student effectively hypothesizes what limitations and biases may exist in the dataset ahead of time and seeks to validate or negate these biases.

The biases identified in the dataset are logically those that affect the recommendation the student makes to a management team.

The ghost deck is structured logically and represents a structured and exhaustive thought process.

The ghost deck should have a clear flow from one thought to another
The headings should convey the main thought to the reader.

The analyses defined by the student are hypothesis driven, clearly defined and will address the problem statement.

The alignment between the hypothesis and analysis should be clearly evident so as to show hypothesis driven structuring.

Tips to make your project standout:

  • The student follows a mutually exclusive, collectively exhaustive framework to address the problem statement.
  • The student addresses population level datasets that may help address the biases in the sample data.
  • The student includes an issue tree in the Appendix to help the audience understand how the student structured the problem
